Summary:
Taishang Laojun’s surname is Li, his given name is Er, and his courtesy name is Changgeng. He is the founder of Taoism, so he is called Taishang Laojun. He lives in Tushita Palace and practices alchemy, and often rides a green bull. He has a magic weapon called Diamond Jade, which is very powerful. He made great contributions in capturing Sun Wukong who made trouble in the Heavenly Palace, but it was stolen by his green bull. In Jinxun Cave, he defeated Sun Wukong, the Pagoda-Bearing Heavenly King, the Eighteen Arhats and other gods many times.
