Summary:

Journey to the West is a Chinese historical novel that has been translated into Thai as the 16th book in a series. It is considered a separate story from the Sui-Tang Dynasty chronicles, set during the reign of Emperor Taizong, the second emperor of the Tang Dynasty.   Volume 1 of Journey to the West tells the story of Tang Sanzang, a Buddhist monk who volunteers to study Buddhism in Sri Lanka (the western part of the country), where he meets a magical disciple named Gao Shitian, who is also known as Sun Wukong (the Chinese Hanuman). This volume focuses on the history of Gao Shitian.
