Summary:

"Now we traverse the ten and one paths of Shura," through sacrifice, suffering, and darkness. Because of his demonic nature, which allows him to read destiny, the monk Genkai seems aware of this… but the same cannot be said of Houmei, who approaches life with a lighthearted attitude. Impatient with the strict rules of the temple, Houmei has no desire to memorize mantras and whines whenever the training involves excessive effort. Perhaps he doesn't even possess faith… and yet he is endowed with extraordinary power, making him one of the likely candidates for the title of Sanzo, destined to guard the precious Sutra of the foundation of heaven and earth." Kazuya Minekura narrates and illustrates the story of Genjo Sanzo's master, from the very origins of the Saiyuki myth.
