Summary:
Taking Zhu Bajie from a new perspective as the starting point, we conduct a new interpretation of the original work and create a three-part magical love comedy with a time-travel theme. The core of the play combines the concepts of “Buddha’s Tears” and “greed, anger, and ignorance” in Buddhism to reshape Zhu Bajie’s three love stories in the Tang Dynasty, the late Qing Dynasty, and modern times.
In the first life, Bajie and Cuilan parted ways and shed their first tear. After returning from Buddhist scriptures, Bajie still couldn’t forget Cuilan, so he begged the Buddha to let him reincarnate and renew their relationship, and the Buddha agreed. In the second life, Bajie and Cuilan ended up regretting it again, shedding a second tear. In the third life, Bajie traveled to a modern campus and crashed the school anniversary party as soon as he appeared on the stage, making the big star Gu Kexin make a fool of himself. He even proposed to Gao Cuilan in this life - the teacher in charge of the school anniversary, Gao Shengnan - in public, and the school anniversary turned into a farce. Tang Seng and his apprentices, who traveled through time a year earlier, recognized Bajie and took him back. Cuilan is going to hold a drama festival and Gu Kexin discovers that Cuilan is having an affair with her childhood sweetheart Song Hexiao, and goes against Cuilan everywhere. Cuilan vowed to leave school if she couldn’t handle it.
Here Gao Cuilan was so anxious that Bajie realized that he would return to his second life as soon as he fell asleep. The past emotions inspired Bajie to propose marriage again and again, but after seeing Cuilan secretly crying, he realized that what he really should do was to help Cuilan run the drama festival. The four master and apprentices began to make suggestions for the drama festival. Bajie took the initiative to serve as screenwriter and changed the script to the story of his and Cuilan’s two previous lives. During the rehearsal process, the two always quarreled over the details of the script, and Song Hexiao took advantage of the opportunity to date Cuilan. The drama festival was successfully held. Bajie knew that Cuilan would not survive until the age of 25 as long as she was with him, so he gave up the opportunity to Song Hexiao. But Cuilan was still sent to the hospital. It turned out that today was her 25th birthday, and she had fallen in love with Bajie. Song Hexiao appeared in the ward and told Bajie that he was a demon and that all this was a bet between him and the Buddha. After realizing this, Bajie and the four master and disciples launched the final battle against the demon.
