The first puppet cartoon feature film “Journey to the West” is the result of several attempts by the actors (the Zhenwuzhou Palm Theater Troupe led by Huang Junxiong), the stage designer Zhang Boyuan, and the photographer Chen Shishan. Synopsis Tang Monk (Fan He) went to the west to learn Buddhist scriptures, and on the way he conquered Sun Wukong (Yue Hua) at Five Phases Mountain; Zhu Bajie (Peng Peng) at Gao family village; and Sha Wujing (Tian Chen) at Flowing Sands River. The 1958 movie used the most advanced optical special effects at the time, combined with ancient costume action skills, which was refreshing.
