Beginning March 23rd, the original cast of the Japanese Flying Ship Theater will embark on a month-long tour in Taiwan, performing nearly 50 performances of the beloved "Monkey King Sun Wukong." This mythical adventure story, beloved by Chinese people worldwide, even won the "Tokyo Metropolitan Excellent Children's Play" award in Japan. The story depicts the protagonists overcoming a series of difficulties and challenges with kindness and courage on their journey to India to obtain Buddhist scriptures.
Although a children's play, it's suitable for all ages. This production blends music, art, and dance, creating a vibrant visual experience through a rich stage format. Lively puppets, accompanied by Mandarin voiceovers, lead children and adults on an adventure, teaching them courage and kindness. Founded in 1966, the Japanese Flying Ship Theater Company has approximately 180 members. Each year, its three troupes perform over 500 shows across Japan and in over 20 countries worldwide. The performances are based on world-renowned fairy tales. The actors undergo extensive professional training and dress up as vintage puppets. Through singing and dancing, they present the truth, kindness, and beauty of fairy tales.
