Summary:
In the early autumn of 627 A.D., the 27-year-old monk Xuanzang left his hometown among a group of fleeing victims and broke into the perilous Gobi alone. In order to avoid the inspection of the city guards, he got lost in the desert and after nine deaths he finally out of the Gobi. In Turpan, the king of the Western Regions received Xuanzang kindly and hoped that he would stay as his master, but Xuanzang still chose to leave. On the way to continue westward, there are more and more followers behind him, but due to the extreme harshness and danger of nature, only two disciples survived with him in the end.
