Summary:
The Monkey King, Sun Wukong (played by Ruan Lingtao) of the Water Curtain Cave in Huaguo Mountain seeks immortality and attains the Tao. Relying on supernatural powers, he causes troubles in the Dragon Palace, the Underworld, and the Heavenly Palace. Later, he was subdued by the Tathagata Buddha and put under Wuzhi Mountain, so that the Heavenly Palace was at peace. Five hundred years later, Gaunyin (played by Feng Xiulian) ordered them to find Buddhist scriptures and prepare for them along the way, and selected the eminent monk Chen Xuanzang (played by Chen Zhenhua) as the Buddhist monk. Emperor Taizong named Xuanzang Sanzang. Along the way, Sanzang meets Sun Wukong, Sha Wukong (played by Lo Hoi-peng), and Zhu Bajie (played by Mei Xin), and each of them follows Sanzang to the west to learn Buddhist scriptures. The four master and apprentices encountered monsters and ghosts everywhere on the way. After going through thousands of mountains and rivers and going through hardships and dangers, the scriptures were obtained later, and the realization of the five sages became a Buddhist event.
