Project Progressive (2006)
Date: 2006
Platform: Xbox
Developer: Team Ninja
Publisher: SeedC
Franchises: Dead or Alive
Adaptation: Alternative Universe
Summary:
Project Progressive was the code name given to a canceled video game that was under-development by Team Ninja. It was originally planned for the original Xbox console, but its development moved to the Xbox 360 before it was scrapped.
As can be seen from the illustration, one of the three titles announced at World Media Party 2006 appears to be a work with a predominantly oriental worldview. Furthermore, a careful look at each character's weapon reveals a strong resemblance to the Ruyi Jingu Bang, the Demon-Subduing Staff, and the Nail-Cutting Knife, suggesting that it might be a work based on the famous Chinese legend novel "Journey to the West" (this is purely speculation, but it certainly contains a strong "Journey to the West" and "Chinese" flavor).
However, currently, only concept art has been released for this title, so the possibility of it being developed as a PC game may not be very high. Nevertheless, even without looking at the announcements made at the press conference on August 28th , Tecmo is sure to be investing a great deal of manpower and resources into its PC/online game division in the future. Given that Tecmo has announced its full-scale entry into the online game business and will be opening the "online game platform" "LieVo" on October 10th , it wouldn't be surprising if this mysterious title is being developed for PC.
