Summary:
Cloud Master, or Chūka Taisen, as it’s known in Japan, is a horizontal shoot 'em up featuring the literary character Sun Wukong, better known as the Monkey King and the deuteragonist of the Chinese novel Journey to the West. In the English localization of The game, the main character’s name is changed to Mike Chen. Cloud Master was originally released in the Arcades by Taito in 1988. Of the home ports, the Master System version is the most well-known, due to it being the only version released in the West. The game also saw releases for the Famicom ( which was developed by Disco) and the PC Engine (where it was known as Gokuraku! Chuuka Taisen). A version of the arcade game with HD HUD and menu elements was released for Switch, Steam, and PlayStation 4 by UFO Interactive as Monkey King: Master of the Clouds. Cloud Master was granted a sequel 20 years later with The Monkey King: The Journey Begins.
